Timed Automata: Semantics, Algorithms and Tools
نویسندگان
چکیده
This report is to provide a tutorial and pointers to results and related work on timed automata with a focus on semantical and algorithmic aspects of verification tools. We present the concrete and abstract semantics of timed automata (based on transition rules, regions and zones), decision problems, and algorithms for verification. A detailed description on DBM (Difference Bound Matrices) is included, which is the central data structure behind several verification tools for timed systems. As an example, we give a brief introduction to the tool UPPAAL. Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)
A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...
متن کاملRobust Analysis of Timed Automata via Channel Machines
Whereas formal verification of timed systems has become a very active field of research, the idealised mathematical semantics of timed automata cannot be faithfully implemented. Several works have thus focused on a modified semantics of timed automata which ensures implementability, and robust model-checking algorithms for safety, and later LTL properties have been designed. Recently, a new app...
متن کاملFrom Time Petri Nets to Timed Automata
In this paper, we consider Time Petri Nets (TPN) where time is associated with transitions. We give a formal semantics for TPNs in terms of Timed Transition Systems. Then, we propose a translation from TPNs to Timed Automata (TA) that preserves the behavioural semantics (timed bisimilarity) of the TPNs. For the theory of TPNs this result is two-fold: i) reachability problems and more generally ...
متن کاملEfficient Reachability Analysis and Refinement Checking of Timed Automata Using BDDs
For the formal specification and verification of real-time systems we use the modular formalism Cottbus Timed Automata (CTA), which is an extension of timed automata [AD94]. Matrix-based algorithms for the reachability analysis of timed automata are implemented in tools like Kronos, Uppaal, HyTech and Rabbit. A new BDD-based version of Rabbit, which supports also refinement checking, is now ava...
متن کاملOn MITL and Alternating Timed Automata over Infinite Words
One clock alternating timed automata (OCATA) have been introduced as natural extension of (one clock) timed automata to express the semantics of MTL [15]. In this paper, we consider the application of OCATA to the problems of model-checking and satisfiability for MITL (a syntactic fragment of MTL), interpreted over infinite words. Our approach is based on the interval semantics (recently introd...
